The Austrian startup scene has been growing by leaps and bounds in recent years. It has even spread to mainstream television, in the form of a startup competition show reminiscent of Shark Tank.
2 Minuten 2 Millionen first premiered in 2013 on the privately-owned channel Puls 4. Startups have 2 minutes to present their ideas in front of a jury for a chance to win 2 million Euros.
Trending Topics, an Austrian online portal for news about startups, innovation and technology, has now partnered with the TV show. The website is live streaming episodes of the fifth season of 2 Minuten 2 Millionen on trendingtopics.at.
To make the stream a more immersive experience, Trending Topics is also putting up a Walls.io social wall during the live streams.
Trending Topics x 2 Minuten 2 Millionen
Use Case: Wall to accompany a TV programme
Customer: Trending Topics
Website: www.trendingtopics.at
Social media wall: walls.io/bgdh2

For each episode of the show, Trending Topics creates a blog post and embeds both the live stream from the show and the social media wall. We had a chat with Trending Topics co-founder Jakob Steinschaden about how Walls.io is enhancing the live stream experience.

I think Walls.io is a great way to see what users are posting on different social media platforms. That makes it much easier to discover content and user opinions about the show in real time from different channels.
Can you tell us a bit about the cooperation between Trending Topics and 2 Minuten 2 Millionen?
The TV station Puls 4, which is broadcasting the show, has been our investor since 2017. That means we are working very closely with them and we are able to stream the show both live and on-demand on our website. We also do events, where people come together to watch the stream in a public screening event and can talk to experts about the show.
Both the live stream and the Walls.io social wall can easily be integrated into our blog posts using embed codes. Since we work with WordPress, that works flawlessly, both on desktop and mobile, thanks to responsive design. It just takes us a few minutes to put both live stream and the Walls.io embed online.
We promote mainly through our content to direct readers and via social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter. Google News is another important way for interested users to find the stream.
I think Walls.io is a great way to see what users are posting on different social media platforms. Before, users would just concentrate on one channel like Twitter, but with the widget, they can see all public posts on all major platforms. That makes it much easier to discover content and user opinions about the show in real time from different channels.
With Walls.io, you can collect and showcase the best posts, photos or videos from over 15 social platforms.
We haven’t had any difficulties or even the need to moderate since the users have been great so far!
Staying flexible by embedding Walls.io in blog posts
Instead of using a static page for the 2 Minuten 2 Millionen live stream and the social wall, Trending Topics is creating a separate blog post for each episode of the show. This allows for more flexibility.
Fortunately, it’s really easy to embed Walls.io in a blog post, especially if you’re using WordPress or website builders to publish your blog. All you have to do is pick up your handy embed code in your Walls.io dashboard.
Simply adjust the settings for your embed and then copy the code to wherever you want it on your website or blog post.
