Overview
Here’s the TL;DR:
Challenge: ÖBB was looking for a way to show off their employer branding and get both employees and the public on board. They wanted to create a visually appealing and cohesive experience for their career website and campaigns, highlighting their employer branding efforts and connecting with their train enthusiast community.
Solution: ÖBB uses Walls.io to bring social media content to their career website and aggregates user-generated content from different hashtag campaigns.
Results: Walls.io helps ÖBB create a digital presence that makes the company more attractive to potential employees and makes its campaigns more visible. User-generated content brought new perspectives, especially for campaigns like #NightjetNewGen, where the train-spotting community contributed all kinds of photos of the new trains from all over Austria.

What challenges made you to look for a solution like Walls.io?
One of the main reasons to look for a solution like Walls.io was that we wanted to embed our social media posts on the career website. It’s quite nice for potential employees to see all the social media posts from other employees on the career website. We use specific hashtags for our employer branding initiatives, and it’s helpful because the content tagged with these hashtags is aggregated automatically on our career website. This way, potential candidates can see all our employer branding activities on social media.
I remember when we introduced the new Nightjet about a year and a half ago, we used hashtags and published posts from others who spotted the train—we had our own hashtag to promote the new trains: #NightjetNewGen. That was great because the train-spotting community is huge. User-generated content gave us diverse pictures of the train from different angles and perspectives, which we wouldn’t have been able to capture ourselves. It’s really nice to use hashtags for specific campaigns and topics. Since we’re a big company, we also use them for internal communication quite often.
What improvements have you noticed since using Walls.io?
For employer branding, it helps us show applicants different stories about our company directly on the career website. We do a lot of employer branding on social media. It’s an improvement because people prefer engaging with social media posts over reading long blog articles.
If you were to recommend Walls.io to other brands, what would be your main reasons for doing so?
Walls.io is a nice and fun addition to any campaign. It’s also an easy way to showcase your social media activities to colleagues and other departments within your company.
